Professional Mentors

You will be allocated a Professional Mentor who will follow you through the programme.

What is a Professional Mentor (PM)?

Professional Mentors are there to provide academic and career guidance to you within the University. You are able to contact them to discuss any academic issues that you might be having and if they are unable to help, they will assist in finding you the right support.  You are able to approach your Professional Mentor for guidance and support at any time throughout your studies, and if for some reason your Professional Mentor is unavailable, you can contact your Student Adviser or the Student Support Manager who will be able to assist or signpost onto more relevant support if required.

What can you expect of your PM?

  • Responsiveness in a timely manner
  • Sign off your portfolio for your Professional and Clinical Skills course
  • Discuss academic progression and offer career advice
  • Willingness to advise, support and review progress
  • Act as your advocate during any progression committee meetings
  • Support through competency tracking and professional skills development (starting with Year 1 students on the 5 year programme 2023/24 only)
