Kelpies arrive at Vet School

Mini versions of the world’s largest equine sculptures have arrived at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

The three metre-high maquettes of The Kelpies, the rearing heads of two Clydesdale horses, were previous on display in Old College Quadrangle.

The versions are an exact 1:10 replica of the 30 metre-high sculptures located at Falkirk’s Helix Parkland.

World tour

Created by artist Andy Scott, the Kelpies opened to the public in April 2014.

The maquettes arrive at the University after travelling the world. They have been on display in New York’s Bryant Park, Chicago’s Grant Park, and at last year’s Ryder Cup in Gleneagles.

The Kelpies will be in Old College 3-29 October and at the Vet School 1-30 November.

I am delighted to welcome the Kelpie maquettes to the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. For a profession that is built upon the working horse, it is fitting that the Kelpies should visit the Vet School. It is a privilege to display these iconic sculptures at the Easter Bush Campus, where they are much admired and enjoyed by staff, students and visitors.
