Guidelines about packaging for samples being submitted via a postal or courier service. Correctly packaged samples can be submitted via Royal Mail or other postage or courier services. All submissions must include a completed submission form. Submissions without a completed form may be refused.Samples should be sent to Easter Bush Pathology Reception at the address below. For prompt delivery, guaranteed next-day delivery or first-class post is recommended. PackagingPackaging must conform to UN3373 which includes a primary leak-proof container, such as a formalin pot, slide holder, blood tube or vacutainer, alongside sufficient absorbent material to absorb any spills, such as cotton wool. These should then be placed within a leak-proof secondary packaging, such as a zip-lock bag, which is then placed within a rigid outer packaging, such as a cardboard box. This outer packaging must then be labelled as below and a completed submission form must be included. The senders name and address should be written clearly on the back of the package. Category B Biological SubstancesAny submissions of known or suspected derogated hazard group 3 or hazard group 3 agents (see HSE Approved List of Biological Agents below) carry additional packaging and handling requirements. Please contact our reception team prior to submission, and indicate this clearly on the submission form. Results will be emailed immediately on completion.
