Avian Anaesthesia
This course covers the physiological and anatomical differences of birds compared to mammals, particularly those which are of importance for anaesthetic management.

Species covered in lecture material will include common pet birds as well as water fowl. There will be opportunity for guided self-directed study of less commonly encountered avian species.
The course supports students in developing knowledge of avian species. The content covers aspects of physiology and anatomy which have implications on anaesthesia management. Particular emphasis is placed on encouraging the application of knowledge to clinical anaesthesia in avian species, with the aim of improving anaesthetic management of these species for those in practice.
