The Dick Vet Rabbit and Exotic Practice

The Dick Vet Rabbit and Exotic Practice is one of the largest exotic services in the UK. Part of a multi-disciplinary, veterinary hospital, our dedicated team provides the highest quality veterinary care to rabbits, small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.

Our Specialist-led first opinion and referral practice supports exotic patients that require additional or advanced diagnostic investigations and treatments.

All patients are cared for in one of our three dedicated wards; the rabbit and small mammal ward, the reptile ward or the avian ward.

We work in partnership with specialist services across the Hospital for Small Animals as required, collaborating to ensure our patients have the highest standard of care.

Our services include:

  • Work-up and diagnostic investigations (blood tests, urinalysis, fine needle aspirates, biopsies, culture and sensitivity tests, etc)
  • hospitalisation and supportive care
  • routine and advanced surgical procedures
  • general anaesthesia
  • endoscopy
  • video-otoscopy
  • ultrasound and radiography.

In collaboration with other on-site services, we can also offer:

  • Advanced diagnostic imaging (conscious CT scans, MRI and ultrasound)
  • Ophthalmology investigations (cataract surgery, glaucoma management and corneal ulcer management)
  • Fracture management
  • Dermatology treatments (laser treatments, pododermatitis management).

We accept referrals from across the UK and offer a 24/7 service, supported by our Emergency and Critical Care Service. We are also happy to offer advice to  referring veterinary surgeons.
