The Edinburgh Empathy Place will cultivate a community of empathy It will do this by: Promoting empathy research, education and training to improve reciprocal relationships between animals, humans and ecosystems.The concept of Planetary Empathy is closely aligned to the One Health focus of the Easter Bush Campus, recognising that optimal human health and wellbeing is impossible without attention to the health and wellbeing of animals and ecosystems. Our Animal Welfare Centre promotes positive relationships between animals and their carers in a wide variety of contexts.Promoting empathy research, education and training within veterinary and human healthcare, exploring the role of empathy between animals, as well as between animals and humans.Our community outreach veterinary clinic, All4Paws, aims to help train veterinary students in transferable empathic skills in relation to underserved communities who have difficulty accessing veterinary services (homeless and vulnerably housed animal owners).Leading the sustainable production of knowledge, skills, tools and promotion of behaviours and understandings that support our student and staff wellbeing, while improving the experience of those who collaborate and partner with us. Our campus is itself an ecosystem, and how we relate to and work with each other has a profound effect on our teaching, practice and research, informing the delivery of teaching and clinical services, and shaping research questions of global significance. Our Easter Bush Support Group, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee and Campus Experience and Culture Committee provide support, representation and improved experience for staff and students at Easter Bush.
