What is planetary empathy? Planetary empathy is a multi-dimensional construct encompassing cognitive, emotional, and behavioural elements of understanding, and responding to, the interconnected well-being of the Earth’s systems and all life-forms within them, rooted in ecological consciousness and ethical responsibility. As such, Planetary Empathy is complementary to contemporary notions of One Health.Why planetary empathy mattersPlanetary empathy moves empathy beyond human psychology to include empathy for animals, nature and the planet as a whole. This holistic approach promotes systems thinking to understand and facilitate the processes that support life and flourishing at every level.
