Ecological pilgrimage and transformative soul journeys

Delivery of nature and mindfulness retreats and ecological pilgrimages.

As a wilderness guide and mindfulness teacher, Glen Cousquer has worked with colleagues at the University Chaplaincy and at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral's Art and Ecology tentacular to deliver nature and mindfulness retreats and a series of ecological pilgrimages, including a John Muir Pilgrimage, a pilgrimage to COP26, in Glasgow and a Braid Burn walk.

Pilgrimage as a methodology for healing our fragmented world is an established approach to nature-culture restoration and Glen's work has informed the writing of two books on the subject and a series of papers and workshops. He presented this work at the European Congress for Qualitative Inquiry in January 2025 and delivered workshops at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August 2025. The essence of the work is rooted in awareness-based systems change, new-materialisms and a recognition that our attentional and relational practices can, with training, be nurtured and developed to deliver ecosystem health.
