The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Edinburgh’s Vet School and the University of Hong Kong’s Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine.

A national centre for poultry health and welfare has been officially opened this week by the Minister for Universities and Science David Willetts.

Dr Tim Nuttall rejoined the Dick Vet as Head of Dermatology on the 12th August, marking a welcome return to Edinburgh, where Tim did his residency and PhD.

Good news has come from the RSPB Scotland on the white-tailed eagle reintroduction project, which has successfully led to a chick being born and fledged in Fife. The Dick Vet have been the veterinary partners since the reintroduction project began in 2007, working to provide veterinary assistance to the programme.

The Dick Vet has always been at the forefront of feline friendly facilities and now our cat care clinicians within the Feline Clinic have been recognised again, with International Cat Care (formerly the Feline Advisory Bureau) recognising the Hospital for Small Animals as a GOLD standard Cat Friendly Clinic.

Renowned artist Samuel Robin Spark is exhibiting his abstract paintings, and will donate a third of the selling price of his works to the Dick Vet’s Hospital for Small Animals.

The Easter Bush Campus is celebrating being granted a Bronze Award and the Roslin Institute a Silver Award, in the recent Edinburgh Sustainability Awards 2013.

Two years of research at the Dick Vet have linked muesli-style foods to life-threatening dental and digestive problems in rabbits.

The Dick Vet was delighted to learn in April 2013 that it had been awarded Athena SWAN Bronze status, making us the first veterinary school to be recognised in this way.
