The Diagnostic Imaging Service

The Diagnostic Imaging Service performs and interprets a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies to help clinicians across the Hospital for Small Animals investigate disease.

Unfortunately this service is currently suspended

We are unable to offer radiology consults for any patients outwith the RDSVS. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We use cutting-edge imaging technology and have a highly experienced team of veterinary radiologists and radiographers to perform these studies.

Our in-house services include Digital Radiography, Fluoroscopy, 64-slice CT, Ultrasound and high-field MRI.

We provide a consult service for radiographic studies for veterinarians in our referral area and on receipt of imaging files and request form, we aim to provide a short report for you within 2 working days. Please email HFSAreception@ed.ac.uk with the filled-in request form and images attached. If you have DICOM images, we can do a better job interpreting your radiographs. Our reception can send you a link where you can upload these DICOM images. If you require this service urgently, then please contact reception in advance and we will get back to you as quickly as we are able to. Our consult fee is currently £39.70 incl VAT. We will waive the consult fee if the patient gets referred to the RDSVS. Unfortunately, we cannot provide consults for anything other than radiographic studies.
