We provide veterinary support this charity, which is building on the achievements of the successful South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project. Restoring Upland Nature (RUN) was established as a stand-alone charity in 2025. It aims to build on the achievements of the highly successful South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project (SSGEP) that preceded it. Restoring Upland NatureThe Conservation Medicine team provided advice and services to the SSGEP including disease risk analysis, guidance on translocation protocols, housing, feeding and genetic diversity, and clinical examinations of eagles prior to translocation. Additionally, several members contributed to the Scientific Advisory Panel and Neil Anderson chaired the panel. RUN aims to continue monitoring and support for the golden eagle population in the south of Scotland, as well as supporting further expansion of golden eagle populations into northern England and other parts of the United Kingdom. This will help to restore upland health and biodiversity, a key challenge in the current nature-climate crisis. For further information on our veterinary contributions to this work, contact Dr. Gidona Goodman or Dr. Neil Anderson.Contact Dr. Gidona Goodman Contact Dr. Neil Anderson This article was published on 2024-09-02
