Avian influenza

We are part of a project assessing the ecology and impacts of avian influenza in wild bird populations in the UK.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses have caused profound declines in wildlife populations around the world, including the UK, in recent years.

We are part of a multi-partner project called ECOFLU, which aims to monitor and better understand the ecology of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses in seabirds and other wild bird populations in the UK. This is a NERC-funded project led by colleagues in the University of Edinburgh’s School of Biological Sciences.
