Ackson Mwale

PhD student on a UofE/UofG jointly funded scholarship.

Ackson is a sociologist interested in One Health (OH), Neglected Zoonotic Diseases and the role of Social Sciences in OH. He is currently a PhD student at the University of Glasgow (and University of Edinburgh) on a UofE/UofG jointly funded scholarship. His project focuses on developing a one health approach to the management of trypanosomiasis across communities and the vet, conservation and medical sectors in the Luangwa Valley in Zambia.

Ackson has a BA degree in Sociology with Demography from the University of Zambia and a Master of Science in Sociology from Stockholm University in Sweden. After graduating, he has been involved in various research programmes (implemented by government ministries and international organisations such as the World Bank and the European Union) in Zambia on a number of issues. He is currently an academic member of staff at the University of Zambia where he is teaching sociology.
