Our team provides clinical support and advice for a range of deer research projects, primarily for red deer but also other species. We have provided clinical support and guidance, as well as personal license training, for deer restraint and anaesthesia. We have provided veterinary support for the Isle of Rum Red Deer Project since 2018 and we also collaborate with the Durham University Conservation Ecology Group. Current initiatives with Durham University include working with Rewilding Affric Highlands to investigate red deer behavioural ecology as part of ongoing ecosystem restoration work. This builds on previous work to support Eilidh Smith’s research in Glen Lyon investigating behaviour, spatial distribution and habitat use of red deer.
