Student Advisers

We are members of the student support team, here for you to contact for guidance, advice and support during your time throughout the programme.

We are your first point of contact throughout your time at university. You will be assigned a student adviser each year. Select your Year Group below to find who we are and how to contact us.

We will also contact you via email regularly throughout the academic year. Please make sure you check your emails regularly and reply to anything that requires a response in a timely manner.

Our office is the Vet School's Student Support Hub, (room G.04 in Vet School Building - on the ground floor on the left as you enter the building from the car park) and is open for you to drop by at any time between 9am and 5pm, you can also email us to arrange a meeting in-person or online.

Hi, I am a Student Adviser for the GEP1 and second year BVM&S students. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like a chat or need signposted for advice and support. My Student Advisor colleagues, and I, are here to help and provide information on a range of services, whether it be academic, social or health and wellbeing related. We want to help ensure that your experience at university is as successful and enjoyable as possible so please reach out if you need some support.

When I am not at work, I enjoy walking my dog, reading and I am currently learning BSL which is challenging but really enjoyable.

You are welcome to contact me by dropping into the Student Support Hub or sending me an email.

Megan Hawskwell is the dedicated member of the Student Support Team for new incoming students on Year 1 of the BVM&S programme.

I am always happy to chat with students about any concerns or questions related to your wellbeing. This can include being a listening ear, helping you to access more expert support, and supporting you to make the most of your time at university. My background is providing pastoral and extracurricular support, so I am experienced talking to students about their mental health, helping students to organise events and societies, and making sure students are getting all the support they’re entitled to.

Outside of work, I like walking, (very slow) running, and cooking or baking. I’m originally from a farm in North Yorkshire so I’m now really enjoying getting to know Edinburgh.

You are welcome to contact me by dropping into the Student Support Hub or sending me an email.

Greetings! I'm your friendly student advisor dedicated to supporting Year 4 BVM&S student here at The Royal (Dick) Veterinary School.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you find yourself grappling with any difficulties, worries or uncertainties. Whether it's a question about your studies or a personal circumstance affecting your academic journey, I am here to help and support you.

I warmly invite you to connect with me either in person or online. Let's schedule a meeting to discuss your needs and explore how I can best support you in making your time here at R(D)VS as sooth and rewarding as possible.

Outside of my role I recharge and rejuvenate by attending Yoga classes or going for a swim. I am also currently trying to master the art of golf, which I must admit is more frustrating than relaxing at times, but I am determined to persevere with enthusiasm.

Please make an appointment or pop in to the Student Advisor Hub on the ground floor.

Looking forward to meeting you and being part of your academic journey!

I am the Student Adviser to our Final Year students. I am based in the Student Support Hub here at Easter Bush and I am always happy to help in whatever way I can.

I will be on hand to offer advice on pastoral matters and to point you in the right direction for any issues that may crop up during your time here at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Please feel free to pop by for a friendly chat (and a biscuit).

When I am not at work, I can be found taking part in my local pub quiz, walking my dog, or unwinding in front of a good movie.
