We have had long-term involvement in the conservation of Eurasian beavers in Scotland and work to safeguard their health and welfare. Our involvement started in 2008 when the first Eurasian beavers (Castor fiber) were brought over from Norway as part of the Scottish Beaver Trial, which reintroduced them back to Scotland; we provided veterinary support for their release. More recently we, in conjunction with the Diagnostic Imaging department and Easter Bush Pathology, have been looking into the health and welfare of Scottish beavers through post mortem examination, radiography and commuted tomography (CT) of beaver carcasses submitted via NatureScot. For more details please contact Dr. Gidona Goodman.
