JSPS Research Fellow in Conservation Genetics and Genomics I am a post-doc from Japan and am funded by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). My interests are in the use of genetic and genomic tools for the conservation of wildlife. I received my PhD from Kyoto University (Japan) in 2018 where I carried out conservation genetic research for Japanese golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos japonica). A major theme in this work was the integration of wild (in-situ) and captive (ex-situ) conservation for this endangered avian species. In my role at the University of Edinburgh I will contribute to the conservation of golden eagle populations in Europe by investigating genomic diversity, population structure, genetic differentiation, historical population fluctuations, and adaptations to local environments using whole genome resequencing data.
