Hospital care

Our aim is to give your pet the very best care whilst they stay in the hospital. We work with you and your local vet, as a team.

We will keep you informed about what is happening whilst your pet is with us and we will discuss with you and your local vet the next stage, when your pet leaves the hospital.

We understand that hospital environments can be stressful for animals. To minimise this, we have separate wards for different kinds of animal-cats, dogs, small furries, reptiles and birds.

We provide hide boxes, toys, perches, humidity chambers and fresh food, and our wards are climate-controlled where appropriate.

We have vet nurses and vets on site 24 hours a day. Your pet will receive the level of care and attention necessary for his or her condition, up to and including round the clock care in our intensive care unit.

Keeping you informed

Sometimes disease processes or investigations change during a hospital stay. We will update you with telephone reports as frequently as is needed. We will also discuss costs if they are likely to vary from the original estimate.

Leaving items with your pet

We generally don’t take in items as we can’t leave them with your pet all the time – all bedding and other items are replaced, cleaned and disinfected daily as part of our rigorous infection control measures. In addition, any items that are left for your pet are at your own risk, as we cannot be held responsible for the loss, damage or soiling of any personal item left with us.

Visiting

You can be reassured that our team of vets, vet nurses and animal care assistants will help your pet feel comfortable and well cared for while staying in the hospital.

Although it is understandable that people may want to visit their pet, in reality most pets also settle better with us if they don’t have visits. For this reason we allow visits only in exceptional circumstances.

After leaving the hospital

We aim to return your pet to the care of your referring vet as soon as possible. Some conditions may require ongoing specialist attention and treatment at the hospital either as an outpatient or for another stay.

All revisits are by prior appointment with the appropriate service. We inform you and your vet of the outcome of any hospital visit each time your pet visits us and advise on relevant care and support to get the best outcome for your animal.
