Dick Vet Christmas Bag Appeal

The Royal Dick Christmas Bag Appeal collects donations from staff and students across the Easter Bush Campus, bags are then donated to the homeless in Edinburgh. Beginning in 2016, the appeal has run each year and asks for essentials, including toiletries, drinks, blankets and food. They also contain a Christmas card and sweet treats. The rucksacks are donated by Royal Canin.

A Holiday Tradition

The appeal was set up in 2016 by Dick Vet Graduate Dr. Jamie-Leigh Thompson and is currently run by students. Once the bags have been filled, local homeless charities and soup kitchens assist in their distribution.

Help For Pets

The appeal also collects items for the pets of homeless people, distributing toys, dental sticks and other important items. These items are handed out in conjunction with All4Paws, a student run veterinary clinic which provides free care for the pets of homeless people.
