Blood tubes required

  • "One-off" or first member test. Two Lithium Heparin 'green' tubes and a Fluoride-Oxalate'grey' tube from each cow.

  • Existing member test. One Lithium Heparin 'green' and one Fluoride-Oxalate 'grey' tube from each cow.

  • Pre-lambing sheep test: One Lithium Heparin 'green' tube for each sheep.

  • Pre-mating (trace element) sheep testing:  Two Lithium Heparin 'green' tubes from each sheep.

(the second lithium heparin tube required for some tests is to facilitate the running of the GHSPx (selenium) assay in the laboratory. As a routine we do not use serum tubes for any of our analysis, though we can use them if they are provided, they are unsuitable for GSHPx analysis so heparin tubes are preferred)
