Speaker Bio

Dr Jess Mitchell

is a zoologist by background but for the past 7 years has worked in social and behaviour change interventions in the academic, not-for-profit and charity sectors.

Jess uses a combination of traditional social science methods and more creative approaches such as photo elicitation, community mapping and storytelling to capture community knowledge and explore sustainable ways to change behaviour.

Her current research addresses a range of One Health challenges including: how and why community people in Nepal use antimicrobial treatments (for their own health and in animals and crops). In the UK she is exploring risk perceptions in relation to 'wild' swimming.
