Third award of Athena Swan silver status commends activity on gender equity. The School has been awarded a third Athena Swan Silver Award, in recognition of its commitment to women's career development. The silver status is the latest accolade to the School under the prestigious Athena Swan Charter. These awards, delivered by the educational body Advance HE, recognise good practice in higher education and research towards gender equality. The School has held Athena Swan status since it was given a bronze award in 2013, when it became the first veterinary school to be recognised in this way. Gender equality The Athena Swan Charter helps institutions achieve their gender equality objectives and supports the promotion of inclusive working practices that create an equitable working environment for all. As part of its application, the School has set out an action plan to enable further progress towards gender equality in the years ahead. An equitable workplace benefits everyone who works there, and career development for our staff and continuous improvement of our campus community are key to the success of our School. We welcome this latest recognition of our efforts from Athena Swan, and we will continue to enable, develop and celebrate equity as a central tenet of our culture.
