Facilities

Within the Hospital for Small Animals, our team of veterinary surgeons are able to utilise the latest, top-of-the-range, equipment allowing your pet access to the very best veterinary care. 

For our small mammal patients we have specialist dental equipment, video endoscopy, video otoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography, computed tomography (CT) scans and access to a MRI scanner.  We are unique in our approach to CT scans and perform most of these conscious in our rabbit and avian patients. 

Avian and reptile patients can utilise our video endoscopy, beak and nail burring equipment, ultrasonography, digital radiography and CT scanner. 

We also have the ability to run in-house faecal parasitology, urinalysis and biochemistry and haematology.

As well as all our equipment for diagnostic investigation, we also provide a high level of expertise required for anaesthetising our patients.  For our rabbits, for example, we always place an intravenous cannula and intubate every patient undergoing a general anaesthetic.  This, along with constant monitoring of heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, end tidal CO2, blood pressure and body temperature, significantly decreases any risk for our anaesthetised patients.  For our avian and reptile patients we have specialist endotracheal tubes and a mechanical ventilator to ensure they breath consistently throughout their procedures.

The Exotics Team also have our own purpose designed surgical theatre and surgical preparation room.
