Christiana Hebel - MSc One Health

A graduate profile from a veterinarian passionate about infectious diseases, One Health, avian and wildlife medicine. Christiana shares how working in the Middle East shaped their adaptability, collaborative mindset, and commitment to continuous learning.

Christiana, Head of Pathology at Central Veterinary Research Laboratory, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, says:

"My journey has been shaped by curiosity, adaptability, and a constant drive to grow. I am a veterinarian with a strong passion for infectious diseases and the One Health approach, reflecting my interest in the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. I am also particularly passionate about avian medicine and wildlife medicine, fields that continue to inspire and motivate my professional development.

After completing my university studies, I chose to step outside my comfort zone and moved to the Middle East, first to Qatar and later to the United Arab Emirates. This transition allowed me to gain valuable international experience, adapt to new environments, and further develop both professionally and personally.

Throughout my career, I have built the ability to navigate dynamic settings, take initiative, and collaborate effectively. I value both independence and teamwork, recognizing that meaningful results come from combining different perspectives. I have always made a conscious effort to travel and connect my work with exploration. I believe that stepping outside familiar surroundings is essential—it enriches perspective, broadens understanding, and helps maintain an open and flexible mindset.

In my current role, I remain committed to continuous learning, delivering impactful work, and growing within my field."
