We are very proud of Dick Vet Equine Practice vet John Pate, who has completed an epic endurance challenge, running four trail marathons in a month to raise money for the Marie Curie charity.

During September, John ran over 100 miles, including ascents of some of the most iconic mountains, munros and hills in Scotland.

Calling the challenge ‘MaraMonth’, John and two friends ran the Trail Escape Edinburgh Marathon, the Glencoe Marathon, Steall Marathon in Fort William and the Trout Pub to Pint Invitational Marathon from Milngavie to Rowardennan over four consecutive weekends.

Endurance tribute

Marie Curie is important to John, as the charity looked after his mother during her final few weeks of illness with cancer.

Thanks to the generosity of friends, family, colleagues and clients of the practice, John has raised over £3,000 so far.

Keen to continue fundraising, John will run the London Marathon in April 2026. Supporters can sponsor him via this link.
