Welcome to our celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Science (or you might see some people use the term ‘STEM’, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is a really important part of our world! Scientists solve problems all around us: from designing exciting space rockets and developing life-saving vaccinations, to discovering how to save endangered animals. We can all start learning about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at school!Overall, girls are under-represented in STEM subjects in schools, colleges and universities. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Gender stereotypes are a major factor contributing to these imbalances - you have the power to change this! All you need to be an excellent scientist is an inquisitive mind.
