Throughout history, women have made many important and dramatic contributions to science. However, many obstacles have been placed before them over the years, and their enthusiasm and dedication to achieve their goal is often just as inspiring as the discoveries themselves!Interestingly, because of society’s historical gender-biases, only 7% world-changing advances in science have been made by women. However, if we look at important scientific advances made since 1900, almost 20% are made by women. This increase in recent contributions by women is very exciting and we hope you’ll be inspired to contribute yourself! The discoveries made by women have no boundaries and include the areas of mathematics, chemistry, space travel and archaeology. Have a look at some of the posters on this page to learn a little about women who inspire our scientists here at Easter Bush.PostersIntroduction Document Introduction: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (59.36 KB / PDF) Ayana Document Ayana: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (268.2 KB / PDF) Hayat Document Hayat: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (194.28 KB / PDF) James Document James: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (149.06 KB / PDF) Katherine Document Katherine: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (196.5 KB / PDF) Marie Document Marie: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (328.62 KB / PDF) Sara Document Sara: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (151.47 KB / PDF) Sarah Document Sarah: International Day of Women and Girls in Science (187.17 KB / PDF) This article was published on 2024-09-02
