Equine Gastric Ulcer Awareness Month

March is Equine Gastric Ulcer Awareness Month. With the support of Boehringer Ingelheim, we will be offering half-price gastroscopy throughout March.

Gastric ulcers are very common in pleasure and competition horses, usually affecting different areas of the stomach than Thoroughbred racehorses, and the presenting signs can be wide and varied. The only reliable method of diagnosis is passing a long endoscope into the stomach to examine the lining, after a period of food withholding.

With the support of Boehringer Ingelheim, we will be offering half-price gastroscopy throughout March. This can be carried out at your yard or at the Hospital, for a set fee of £160 including sedation, plus visit fees if applicable.

Please call us on 0131 650 6253 or eqh@ed.ac.uk to discuss your horse with one of our vets if you feel your horse may benefit from this procedure.
