More than 180 eggs are produced per person per year for consumption worldwide and over a third of meat produced globally is from poultry. With income and suburban population growth, poultry meat and egg consumption is likely to increase. A large poultry industry already supports current food production systems and the huge number of food-producing birds within them - we expect this industry to grow in response to the demand for food.
