Supporting student recruitment across the globe Practice vet Suzanne Duncan and colleagues from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies travelled to San Francisco and New York earlier this spring. The team was interviewing potential students who had applied to study veterinary medicine at the University of Edinburgh. The aim of the BVM&S interview is to select candidates with the best combination of academic ability and aptitude for veterinary medical training. Although a high level of intellectual capability is essential, vets also need to be empathetic, resilient and able to think laterally. The interview process is important to help identify these skills in potential students. The candidates had a welcome talk and the opportunity to ask questions to help them learn more about the School’s philosophy, learn about Scotland and decide if our School is the place for them to follow their dream of becoming a vet.
