Use UCAS Track to check the conditions (if any) and status of your offer If you have any questions about these conditions, please contact the Veterinary Admissions Team as soon as possible. If we have made you an unconditional offer this is because you have already satisfied all of the entry requirements for the degree programme and we do not require you to obtain further academic qualifications. If we have made you a conditional offer this is because we require you to meet certain conditions, usually certain grades in your exams or a requirement for additional relevant work experience. Once you have met these conditions your offer will become unconditional. Please note that if your offer includes evidence of additional work experience to be gained, the Admissions Team must receive this, usually in the form of a reference, by 1 August. You can submit this to vetug@ed.ac.uk Conditional offers are expressed in terms of letter grades and not UCAS Tariff points. For example, an offer set at three A grades means that three passes at A grade or above are required. A combination of one A grade and one C grade are not regarded as the equivalent of two B grades. Offer conditions are based on the information you provided in the “Qualifications Not Yet Completed or Certificated” section of the UCAS application and must be met in the current sitting of exams. Send copies of your educational certificates to the Veterinary Admissions Team We need copies of certificates relating to any qualifications you have already achieved (as entered in the “Qualifications Completed or Certificated” section of the UCAS application). Examples include SQA National 5 certificates, GCSE’s or for international students College Board or ACT transcripts, IGCSEs, your High School diploma or School Leaving Certificate. You send an electronic copy of your certificates to the Veterinary Admissions Team. You must provide authorised translations of all certificates that are written in languages other than English. Please note that you are not required to pay a deposit to secure your place on the BVM&S. Make sure we are notified of your exam results If you hold a conditional offer based on SQA Higher or Advanced Higher results, on GCE A level results, on Irish Leaving Certificate results or on any exam results listed on the UCAS exam results webpage, you do not need to notify us of your exam results. We receive these results directly from UCAS. If you hold a conditional offer based on results in any other examination you must send official transcripts or certified copies as soon as the results become available, whether you decide to accept our offer either as Firm (i.e. your first choice) or Insurance (i.e. your back-up choice). A certified copy means that it has been stamped and signed by the institution. You can submit these electronically by emailing the Veterinary Admissions Team. If you do not meet the terms of your conditional offer, your application will still receive careful consideration. If you feel that any special circumstances, such as illness, have affected your performance, we encourage you to follow the special circumstances procedures of the relevant exam board. Your school or college will be able to advise you about this and please also notify the Veterinary Admissions Team. Animals and Tissues Together with your official offer email, you will receive a teaching note on Animals and Animal Tissues. Please read this carefully before making your final decision on whether to accept your Veterinary Medicine offer or not. This article was published on 2024-09-02
