I am a population geneticist with a particular interest in ecological genomics. Using genomic tools (RADseq, RNAseq, WGS), I have researched local adaptation in salmonids, balancing selection and convergent adaptation in Trinidadian guppies, and conservation genomics in seabirds, lizards and geckos.

I'm currently working on completing the reference genome of the European lobster as part of the AquaLeap project (in collaboration with the Roslin Institute). I am currently employed as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of L’Aquila (Italy) and am an Associate Researcher at the University of Exeter (UK). Next spring, I will begin a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship at Marche Polytechnic University (Italy) where I will be exploring genomic signatures of rapid adaptation in king penguins. I am the Director of the Workshop on Genomics, Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic (evomics.org).

Favourite aquaculture species

It should be the European lobster, but I still have a lot of love for salmonids!

Interests, hopes and dreams

I love wine, cheese, camping and music. I’d love to be better at languages, but right now I'm pretty rubbish at the two I’m trying pretty hard to learn (Italian and Catalan)!
