Visiting PhD student Moved to a post-doc position at the University of Georgia (USA) Image Research at the Highlander Lab The main idea of my research is deploy genomic selection in groundnut breeding populations. Goals: Estimate breeding values for yield related traits such as seed weight, pod weight in nested association mapping populations, RILs and MAGIC population of groundnut Study model effect, effect of marker densities and size of training population on prediction efficiency in groundnut Background Development of genomic resources for groundnut improvement. In my PhD research I am studying the genetic regulation of complex yield related traits such as seed and pod weights in groundnut. The objective is to discover the genomic regions and candidate genes associated bold seeded groundnut. Also, to develop the diagnostic markers for marker assisted selection to develop bold seeded groundnut varieties. I am specifically interested in: Plant genetics Plant genomics Plant breeding Molecular breeding Marker assisted selection Functional genomics Programming language and software: R & RStudio Hobbies and personal interests Cooking: I like cooking, because while cooking we take care of adding the all ingredients proportionally. In real life also, we should give importance proportionally to personal and professional life, we don’t know when we will reborn as a human again. Singing: I like singing while doing bath (bathroom singer). Singing gives us happiness. No matter how rubbish is the voice but try to sing some songs which you really like. Table-Tennis: I am a Table-tennis player. Off course all games keeps you fit and healthy but this game increases our concentration and keeps us more focussed.
