We’re sad to announce that our former colleague, who was principal investigator on the team that created Dolly the Sheep at The Roslin Institute, passed away on 4 August 2017. Image Jim McWhir was born in Haddington, East Lothian in the UK in September 1952. He had spent many years sailing on his boat, Rona, where he died suddenly on 4 August while moored in Loch Harport, Carbost, Isle of Skye, Scotland. Jim McWhir had a PhD in experimental embryology from the University of Guelph. He has joined The Roslin Institute in 1994 until his retirement in 2002. He was the principal investigator on the team led by Ian Wilmut that created Dolly the Sheep at the Roslin Institute on 5 July 1996.
