Farquharson Lab

The Farquharson lab group's research is focused on the identification of the cell, molecular, and endocrine mechanisms that regulate bone formation, remodelling, and mineralisation in health and disease.

The focus of Professor Colin Farquharson's lab research is to identify and develop a functional and mechanistic understanding of key genes and cellular pathways that are critical for the maintenance of a healthy skeleton, but are impaired in skeletal disease.   The hallmark of bone is its hardness, and how cells control the mineralisation process is a particular interest of our lab.
