Led by Letícia A. C. Lara Summary Plant breeding programs turn genetic variation into genetic gain to continually improve plant production. Managing genetic diversity in such breeding programmes is important to ensure short- and long-term competitiveness and potential. In this seeding project, we will look at how to quantify the amount of genetic variation available in different stages of a breeding programme and over years as well as how this genetic variation is distributed along the genome. This work will enable plant breeding programmes to objectively measure the amount of genetic variation and based on this start actively manage it. This article was published on 2024-09-02
