Current and past members of our group. Dr. Pam WienerReaderI have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Virginia (USA) and a PhD in Biological Sciences from Stanford University (USA), where I applied mathematical models to investigate evolutionary processes. Following postdoctoral fellowships at Emory University (USA) and the University of Warwick, I joined the Roslin Institute. I was appointed Career Track Fellow in 2011 and Group Leader in 2015. My research involves the application of population and quantitative genetics techniques to the study of domesticated animals. The aims are:improving understanding of the domestication and breed development processesunravelling the genetic architecture of behaviour, production and disease-related traitscontributing to the implementation of selection schemes for improved animal health and welfare.I have developed methods for detection of selection signatures and applied them in a range of species, including cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens and dogs. I have also used linkage and association mapping techniques to detect genomic regions associated with animal production, behaviour and disease-related traits. pam.wiener@roslin.ed.ac.uk Pam's web profile Dr. Juliane FriedrichCore Scientist I studied Agriculture and Animal Breeding at the University of Rostock, Germany and completed my PhD on the genetic background of cattle behaviour and the interaction with milk performance. I completed my first postdoc on behaviour genetics in dogs at The Roslin Institute. Now, I am a Core Scientist and work on various projects in the field of population and quantitative genetics in cattle, sheep and dogs. My focus is on gaining insights into the genetic admixture and selection in response to environmental adaptation in these species. juliane.friedrich@roslin.ed.ac.uk Juliane's web profile Dr. Kanika GhildiyalPhD studentI completed my undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (India) and a postgraduate degree in Animal Genetics and Breeding from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, where my research focused on profiling the genomic diversity and population structure of Indian Sahiwal cattle. Currently, I am a PhD student at the Roslin Institute, where my research centres on inferring selection and admixture in admixed designer dog breeds and livestock.
