Visiting MSc student Research at the Highlander Lab Image I am working with the program SIMplyBee to quantify the introgression of imported honey bees into native honey bee populations (Apis mellifera mellifera) under different selection and adaptation scenarios. Goals: Simulate different populations of honey bees and introgression events; Evaluate introgression under neutral, positive, and negative selection scenarios. Background I am currently studying for an MSc in Evolutionary Genetics at the University of Edinburgh. Previously, I studied a BSc in Biology at the University of the Basque Country in Spain. I developed an interest in genetics, evolution and conservation, and after completing my undergraduate studies, I decided to expand my knowledge by doing an MSc. I am specifically interested in: Evolutionary processes Population genetics Conservation Programming and Statistics Programming language and software: R & RStudio Python Hobbies and personal interests I love being outdoors, hiking with friends and enjoying nature. I like sports in general (surfing, football, climbing…) and always listen to all kinds of music! I also started taking my camera with me while hiking to photograph animals and landscapes, and I have found that I enjoy trying different kinds of food a lot!
