Assistant Professor at the Department of Agronomy, Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil. Current Research Main idea: our group is interested in developing molecular, quantitative, and statistical genetics for application in plant breeding programmes. We’re mostly focused on clonally propagated crops (including polyploid ones), but we’ve been working in a range of species. Image Goals: To conduct phenotypic and genotypic data analysis To generate knowledge on genetic architecture for agriculturally important traits To evaluate genomics-assisted breeding implementation. Background I am a biologist from Paraiba State University, Campina Grande, Brazil, and have obtained my masters and PhD degrees in Genetics and Plant Breeding at University of São Paulo, Piracicaba, Brazil. I worked as a postdoc at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, US, and as a research scientist at the International Potato Center, sub-Saharan Africa, remotely, before becoming an assistant professor at Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil. I am specifically interested in: Quantitative genetics Bioinformatics Biometrics Programming language and software: R Hobbies and personal interests Travelling, reading, concerts, hiking, and weight training.
