Goals:

  • Dissect the genetic architecture of agronomically important traits
  • Critically evaluate the potential of quantitative genetics models to test hypotheses on emerging theories of genetic architecture
  • Assess the capability of current genomic prediction models to predict genomic estimated breeding values in extreme environments.

Background

My education is in applied statistics, and I run a crop quantitative genetics lab at the University of Illinois in the US.

I am specifically interested in:

  • Quantifying the effects of small-effect genes whose signals are typically undetected in GWAS
  • Accounting for (auto)polyploidy in quantitative genetics models
  • Epistasis
  • Quantifying genotype-by-environment interactions

Programming language and software:

  • R

Hobbies and personal interests

I am also a musician. My serious instrument is the piano, but I also like to have a lot of fun on the guitar. I am also an avid runner, and I run about 26 miles every week. My family and I also love to travel and visit new places.
