Press Release from the Dogs Trust.

Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity, is delighted to announce that Professor David J Argyle BVMS PhD DECVIM-CA (Oncology) MRCVS has been elected onto the board of trustees.

David has already been a big support to Dogs Trust with his involvement in the Canine Welfare Grants Committee for the last five years. The committee commissions research into animal welfare issues. On his election to the board of trustees he has also agreed to chair that committee.

In 1991, David began his career by graduating BVMS with Honours from the University of Glasgow. By 2002 David was made Associate Chair and Head of Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison  USA, and became a Diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2005. From there he moved to The University of Edinburgh to become the William Dick Professor and Chair of Veterinary Clinical Studies.

I am both delighted and honoured to be a part of an organisation which has for so many years been at the forefront of animal welfare. As a veterinarian it is wonderful to be part of such an innovative organisation and I look forward to working with Dogs Trust for many years to come.

Professor David Argyle

David is currently Professor of Veterinary Clinical Studies, Director of the Clinical Research Division of The Roslin Institute and Director of the Riddell Swan Cancer Centre, University of Edinburgh.
