Born2Guide: Whole-genome sequencing of a population of guide dogs

Led by Audrey Martin

Summary

Breeding to ensure better health, behaviour, and wellbeing is critical for the success of guide dogs. This project aims at developing foundations for the genomic selection of guide dogs. Specifically, it aims to kickstart sequencing and imputation strategies that will enable efficient and effective genomic selection in guide dogs. To this end, this project will:

  • Perform whole-genome sequencing on a sample of breeding dogs,
  • Develop sequencing and imputation strategies for the rest of the population, and
  • Produce method pipelines for downstream routine genomic data collection and analysis.
