Research at the Highlander Lab

I am evaluating how the uncertainty of estimated breeding values impacts optimal contribution selection - how optimal is optimal contribution selection under uncertainty.

Goals:

  • Simulate a breeding programme
  • Estimate breeding values and their uncertainty given some phenotypic and pedigree or genomic data
  • Optimise contributions of selection candidates to the next generation taking uncertainty of breeding values into account
