Research at the Highlander Lab

The main idea of my research is to design honeybee breeding programmes using data driven simulations.

Goals

  • Design a simulation framework for honeybee breeding programmes
  • Evaluate different mating systems in the honey bee
  • Population genetic analysis of honey bees In New Zealand

Background

I gained a BSc in Biology from Aberystwyth University and wrote my dissertation on the microbiota of Varroa destructor (a parasite of the honeybee).
