Robledo Group, PhD student Current researchMy research interest is to investigate the physiological functions of candidate genes related to disease resistance in aquaculture species. I am currently developing an in vitro model of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) cell line to assess the consequences and impact of CRISPR/Cas9 knockout of genes related to Piscirickettsia salmonis infection.Favourite aquaculture species Every fish is my friend but Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is my bestie.BackgroundI trained as a fish pathologist at the National Reference Laboratory for Fish Diseases in Universidad de Chile, where I studied the impact of the Piscirickettsial Adhesion Complex (PAC) in survival and persistence of P. salmonis in the marine environment. [2004 – 2011] BSc (Veterinary Medicine)[2012 – 2015] Animal Health Manager in Aquasan S.A.[2016 – 2018] MSc (Animal and Veterinary Sciences)[2018 – Present] PhD Candidate (Genetics and Genomics).Interests, hopes and dreamsI enjoy outdoor sports such as hiking, running and winter sports; also CrossFit and weightlifting.
