My research interest is to investigate the physiological functions of candidate genes related to disease resistance in aquaculture species. I am currently developing an in vitro model of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) cell line to assess the consequences and impact of CRISPR/Cas9 knockout of genes related to Piscirickettsia salmonis infection.

Favourite aquaculture species

Every fish is my friend but Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is my bestie.

Background

I trained as a fish pathologist at the National Reference Laboratory for Fish Diseases in Universidad de Chile, where I studied the impact of the Piscirickettsial Adhesion Complex (PAC) in survival and persistence of P. salmonis in the marine environment.
