Visiting PhD student Research visit to the Highlander Lab from INRAE Image Breeding of long-living species such as trees becomes very challenging in a context of rapid climate change. We seek to extend the classical genetic evaluation of maritime pine with reaction norms and genomic predictions. Goals: Explore phenotypic plasticity of maritime pine and integrate environmental information into classical genetic evaluations through the use of genomic reactions norms fitted with random regression models; Develop robust genomic selection models for maritime pine, particularly performant to predict intra-family variability. Background During my schooling, I did several internships, notably at the Agrigenomics Research Center of Barcelona and at the University of Davis, US, in the department of plant sciences. I hold a masters in plant breeding from the ENSA-Toulouse, France. Before starting my PhD, I worked for one year in the Biostatistics team of the seed company Limagrain. I am specifically interested in: Quantitative Genetics Phenotypic plasticity Genomic predictions Breeding schemes Programming language and software: R & RStudio Wombat ASReml Hobbies and personal interests Sports: I've been playing tennis and squash for a very long time, and more recently I've taken up running. I also love watching rugby (I'm not strong enough to play it). Travel: I love to travel, especially to discover nature by hiking, kayaking or other outdoor sports. I have visited the south of Europe a lot (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia…) and more recently the US and Mexico.
