Multiphoton (2-photon) Microscopy

The Multiphoton Intravital Microscope is located within Lab G.069.

Multiphoton Microscopy sees deeper into live tissue (incubation for in vitro slices also available) and is less phototoxic than pinhole-based confocal microscopy. To make use of this technology, contact Bob Fleming in the first instance.

  • Zeiss LSM7MP upright Multiphoton Microscope
  • Coherent Chamaeleon Ultra II Ti:Sa tunable laser with OPO wavelength extension (690 to 1400 nm 2-P excitation range)
  • 2x PMT Non-descanned detectors, BiG detector (Binary GAsP low light detectors 2 x sensitivity)
  • Filters include: DAPI/CFP/GFP/RFP and Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) detection
