Research at the Highlander Lab

I am gaining experience in modelling breeding programmes and using this framework to kickstart work on understanding bias in genomic predictions, trying to find out what’s causing this bias and how to fix it.

Goals:

  • Analyse various scenarios to see where bias is showing
  • Figure out what could be causing bias
  • Try to fix issues with bias

Background

I have recently graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb, Croatia where I received my master’s degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics. Since then I have been visiting the HighlanderLab to gain experience in modelling breeding programmes.

I am specifically interested in:

  • Animal breeding
  • Quantitative genetics
  • Population genetics

Programming language and software:

  • R & RStudio
  • SAS
  • Python (beginner)

Hobbies and personal interests

I’ve played basketball my whole life, but after finishing my studies I’ve also started hiking, running and wall climbing.
