Houston Group, Postdoctoral Research Fellow Current Research I am a Research Fellow in aquaculture genetics at the Roslin institute. Cost-effective genomic selection has major potential to deliver transformative and cumulative impact in key production traits that are crucial for the economic and environmental sustainability of aquaculture production. My research focuses on genomic breeding for resistance to sea lice in Atlantic salmon. Image Favourite aquaculture species Salmo salar Background I am a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, with expertise in livestock health and animal breeding. I received my MSc in Quantitative Genetics and my PhD in genetics and genomics of disease resistance, at the University of Edinburgh, studying the genetics of bovine Tuberculosis in cattle. As a postdoctoral researcher in genetic-epidemiological modelling at the Roslin institute, my research focused on host infectivity and disease control. Interests, hopes and dreams I am enthusiastic about teaching and I have received a fellowship of the UK Higher Education Academy. This article was published on 2024-09-02
