PhD student (SRUC based) Image Having grown up on a farm I have always had a deep interest in animal breeding and genetics at a practical level. I attended University College Dublin for four years and graduated with an honours degree in animal science where I gained an insight into the scientific aspect of genetics and animal breeding inspiring me to pursue a career in this area. Shortly after graduating I began my PhD with Teagasc, SRUC and the University of Edinburgh in September 2016. My PhD research is focusing on producing international genetic and genomic evaluations in sheep using Ireland and the UK as a case study. This article was published on 2024-09-02
